The Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out an eight-count criminal charge filed against Adeniyi Adeyemi, accused of posing as the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
Justice Mohammed Garba Umar terminated the proceedings on Monday following an application by the Federal Government, which said Adeyemi would be arraigned afresh before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The application was moved by the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, who told the court that the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, had reviewed the case.
According to Oyedepo, the review revealed legal and procedural shortcomings in the charge originally filed by the Inspector-General of Police.
Oyedepo informed the court that the allegations concerning documents allegedly forged by Adeyemi fell within the jurisdiction of the FCT High Court rather than the Federal High Court.
He disclosed that a fresh charge had already been filed before the FCT High Court and urged Justice Umar to strike out the existing case to allow the prosecution to proceed before the appropriate court.
The application was not opposed by Adeyemi’s counsel, Ibrahim Angulu, SAN.
Following the absence of any objection, Justice Umar granted the prosecution’s request and struck out the eight-count charge.

The decision brings the proceedings at the Federal High Court to an end, but the prosecution intends to continue the case through a fresh arraignment at the FCT High Court.
Adeyemi Faces Forgery, Conspiracy Allegations
Adeyemi, 38, was charged alongside two other defendants identified as Femi and Anu, whose surnames were not provided. The two co-defendants were reportedly at large at the time of the proceedings.
The charges, filed under suit number FHC/ABJ/CR/25/2025, bordered on alleged conspiracy and forgery linked to the purported operation of the PFIPC.
The Federal Government had accused Adeyemi of using allegedly forged documents in connection with his claimed position as the head of the council.
However, Monday’s ruling concerned the termination of the charge before the Federal High Court following the prosecution’s request to pursue the case in another court. It was not a determination of Adeyemi’s guilt or innocence.
The prosecution is expected to proceed with the fresh case before the FCT High Court.
