Air Canada is planning an earlier return and more frequent services on its Montreal-Palma route next year, in a boost to direct air links between Mallorca and Canada. Flights are due to resume in May 2027, a month earlier than this year, while services will increase to four a week during the busiest part of the summer season.
The changes follow a promising first season for the connection, which launched in June 2026. Xisca Jiménez, Air Canada’s commercial manager for Spain, announced the plans at the annual workshop of the Balearic Islands Association of Travel Agencies (AVIBA) in Palma. She said the route had performed better than expected, prompting the airline to strengthen its programme for next year.
As well as adding a weekly flight during peak season, Air Canada intends to deploy a larger aircraft to provide additional capacity. However, the airline has yet to confirm which aircraft will be used, the precise date services will begin in May or the final timetable for the 2027 season.
The route also gives Mallorca travellers access to a wider network of destinations across North America. Montreal serves as a connecting hub for Air Canada, allowing passengers from the Balearic Islands to reach destinations across Canada and the United States, as well as parts of Central America and the Caribbean, with a stopover.
This year’s service is scheduled to run until October 24, with three weekly flights operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The expansion for 2027 marks a change from the airline’s original plans, which envisaged four weekly services using Airbus A321XLR aircraft. Air Canada subsequently revised its plans before launch, opting for a larger aircraft, and will now increase both the length of the operating season and the number of weekly flights at the height of summer.
