Jordyn Woods was in Madison Square Garden for the 2026-27 NBA season opener to support New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Woods watched Towns get immortalised in NBA history as an NBA Champion, receiving his championship ring as the Knicks 2026 NBA Championship banner went up into the rafters of the most famous arena in basketball history.
Unfortunately, Woods did not get to see the Knicks convert the pregame success into postgame success, losing the season-opener 106-100 to the 76ers, which ended a far more underrated streak.
Jordyn Woods’ lucky bag can’t withstand LeBron James’ debut magic
Woods brought her orange ‘Summer Citrus’ Tux Clutch Mini bag to the game, a cult object from the 2026 Championship run, as Knicks fans believed they were undefeated whenever Woods brought this bag to the games.
Towns had a strong showing with 19 points and 12 rebounds, also notching two blocks and a steal in the loss. He shot efficiently by going 6-for-9 from the field, raising the question of why the Knicks chose not to feature him more prominently, especially in a double-big lineup with Andre Drummond.
LeBron had 14 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in his first game with the 76ers, controlling the tempo of the game while playing a supplementary role behind Tyrese Maxey (28 PTS) and fellow debutant Jaylen Brown (19 PTS).
The history of Jordyn Woods’ lucky Knicks bag
The bag debuted in Game 1 of the first round against the Atlanta Hawks, a 113-102 win. While the bag was not undefeated, as she brought it to losses in Games 2 and 3, the legend grew with what happened next.
The Knicks would go on a 12-game playoff win streak, winning 10 straight games against Eastern Conference opponents by sweeping the 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers in rounds two and three, before running out to a 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals over the San Antonio Spurs.
Woods could not bring the bag to Game 3 of the NBA Finals due to President Donald Trump’s presence enforcing a ‘no-bags’ policy, which grew the myth of the bag being undefeated, as Woods brought it back in Games 4 and 5, which led to huge comeback wins and the title for New York.
While the bag wasn’t truly undefeated, the mystique around it is truly shattered after this opening night loss. While the Knicks are still among the top contenders in the East, the 76ers have reminded everyone that they are just as beatable as any team.
