The New York Giants continue to take hits on defense. The Giants have placed inside linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, the team’s leading tackler through six games, on injured reserve with a torn chest muscle. The Giants also announced on Saturday that starting safety Jevon Holland, who has a team-high three interceptions, has been downgraded to out with a concussion.
Edmunds had 50 tackles in six games. He was second behind rookie Arvell Reese in solo tackles with 34. Micah McFadden, a full-time starter at linebacker for the Giants in 2023 and 2024, will take Edmunds’ place. McFadden played in just one game last season due to a foot injury.
The Giants have also lost edge defender Brian Burns, who has 16.5 sacks in 2025, and starting defensive lineman Chauncey Golston for the season.
To take Edmunds’ place on the roster, the Giants are activating veteran cornerback Paulson Adebo from injured reserve. Adebo played in just one game before going on IR with a knee injury. He could start on Sunday against the Houston Texans as Greg Newsome II has already been ruled out with a concussion.
The Giants also announced that tight end Theo Johnson will miss a second straight game with a neck injury. He had initially been listed as questionable.
Chance for Jalin Hyatt
Wide receiver Jalin Hyatt was one of two practice squad elevations for the Giants. The other was safety Raheem Layne. Hyatt, a 2023 third-round pick by the Giants, has been on the practice squad all season. He has 36 receptions in 41 career games. Layne gives the Giants protection if Tyler Nubin (neck) can’t play.
