The Federation of Korean Industries will hold an international conference with the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE) of the United States to discuss changes in the global economy driven by tariff disputes and the spread of artificial intelligence, along with new growth strategies.
The FKI said on the 16th that it will host the 2026 FKI-PIIE Joint International Conference at the FKI Tower in Seoul's Yeouido district on the 27th of this month. Held under the theme "An Era of Fragmentation, New Growth Strategies: The Future of Trade, Industry and Jobs," the event will bring together economic experts from Korea and abroad to examine the trade order, supply chain realignment and the impact of advances in AI on industry and employment.
World Bank President Ajay Banga will deliver a speech in the keynote session. PIIE President Adam Posen, Korea Economic Research Institute President Chung Chul and former Bank of Korea Governor Changyong Rhee will then hold a discussion on economic growth, jobs and economic resilience.
Later sessions will focus on the impact of the Trump administration's economic policies on the global economy and on changes in productivity and employment stemming from the spread of AI. Participants will also discuss trade policy and industrial strategy to respond to U.S. tariff measures and the realignment of global supply chains.
Those wishing to attend can register in advance through the FKI website, and simultaneous interpretation in Korean and English will be provided.
