BATU PAHAT: A tuition teacher has been remanded for seven days to assist investigations into alleged sexual assault involving two female students at a tuition centre here.
Magistrate Aimi Nawwar Mohamad Othman issued the remand order against the 32-year-old suspect, effective today.
Police received a report from the mother of one of the victims, who alleged that her 6-year-old daughter had been sexually assaulted by the suspect.
Initial investigations found that the incident is believed to have occurred between 7pm and 8pm last Wednesday during a class conducted by the suspect at a tuition centre in Taman Bukit Perdana.
The case came to light after one of the victims returned home and told her parents.
Police arrested the unmarried suspect yesterday and seized closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage believed to have captured the incident.
The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
