Cozy Color
The unexpected auburn looks especially pretty in this elegant ponytail.

If you ever need proof that you don’t need to dramatically lighten your hair to make a noticeable color change, just take a look at Jenna Ortega. Over the last couple of years, she’s cycled through espresso brown, almost (and actually) black, and cherry cola shades, demonstrating that deep brunette has considerably more range than Big Bleach would have you believe. And now, she’s warming things up with a fresh auburn hue.
Ortega brought the unexpected new color to the Klara and the Sun photocall in London, where she wore a Calvin Klein look that takes her typically darker aesthetic on a sunny little detour. The white, yellow, and black color-blocked effect feels equal parts mod and modern.

Just as of-the-moment is Ortega’s new auburn shade: a rich, warm, still-dark brown with coppery-red highlights that falls right in the trendy “maple cinnamon” territory. Tendrils were cleanly parted down the center before a boost of volume at the crown. Her hair was secured in a low ponytail, with the smooth, straight-yet-kinetic lengths reaching well past the middle of her back. Just like the color, the style feels like the exemplification of restrained oomph.
Ortega’s go-to hairstylist, Cesar Deleon Ramirez, created the style, though it’s not clear if he was responsible for the new color, which seems to bring out her freckles in an especially fashionable way.

The sum is a look that shows it doesn't take a gothic ensemble, dramatic haircut, or her once-long-standing bleached brows to register as captivating (though we love those, too). Sometimes the most striking hair transformation involves simply tweaking the tone you regularly wear, as Ortega has done here.
