Julius Kipkemoi Cheruyot, a resident of Longisa Ward in Bomet East Constituency, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Business Studies with IT, specialising in Finance, from Maseno University.
Graduate Appeals to Ruto for Employment
He told TUKO.co.ke that despite his academic qualifications and more than five years of experience in finance and accounting, he has struggled to secure permanent employment.
Cheruyot says he has been surviving on short-term contracts despite applying for numerous jobs and attending interviews.
His situation has become increasingly difficult because he is the sole provider for his ailing mother and brother, a responsibility he says has taken a heavy emotional toll.
In a heartfelt appeal addressed to President Ruto, Cheruyot pleaded for help to access a suitable employment opportunity.
He recently completed an internship at Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) and previously worked as an intern at the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI).
Supporting Ailing Family Has Taken a Toll
Cheruyot hopes his experience and qualifications will help him secure a position at KenGen or another institution within the energy sector, where he believes he can put his skills to use.
Beyond the challenge of finding work, Cheruyot said the pressure of supporting his sick relatives while struggling to establish himself professionally had affected his emotional well-being.
He disclosed that he had been battling depression but remained determined to keep looking for an opportunity to change his family’s circumstances.
“Let not depression win. Let hope live again,” he appealed.
Cheruyot said he was not seeking financial handouts but a chance to work, earn an honest living and use his education and experience to support his family.
He hopes that a referral, recommendation or suitable vacancy could help him secure the stability he has been seeking since graduating.

Reflecting on his journey, Cheruyot said he had overcome numerous challenges to complete his education, hoping to support his family and inspire other young people in his village.
He now hopes that someone willing to open a door for him will help turn those aspirations into reality.
In his appeal, he urged the President, other leaders and well-wishers to consider him for opportunities in finance, accounting or any other suitable field where he could contribute his skills.
For Cheruyot, securing a job would mean more than professional advancement. It would offer him an opportunity to provide for his ailing family and ease the burden he has carried while trying to build a stable future.
He appealed to Kenyans to connect him with potential employers, expressing hope that his education and experience would finally translate into an opportunity to work.
