BLACKPINK star Jennie has released a new solo song titled “Someone to Hold” for Netflix’s upcoming animated film Steps. The track debuted on October 15, ahead of the film’s release. Jennie also shared a preview of the song with fans.
The song was written and produced by Justin Tranter, who created three other original tracks for the film. The soundtrack also features music by Amanda Seyfried, British pop artist Rose Gray and Chinese-American singer Emei. Oscar-winning composer Kris Bowers contributed the film’s score.

Jennie encouraged fans to enjoy the song and the upcoming movie. The release follows her recent success with Tame Impala’s “Dracula” remix. That collaboration reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100 and number two on the UK Official Singles Chart.
Directed by Alyce Tzue and John Ripa, Steps offers a different take on the classic Cinderella story. The film follows Cinderella’s stepsister Lilith, who steals the Fairy Godmother’s magic wand. She then teams up with Margot to take control of the royal ball.
Their plans face trouble when Priscilla, a scheming character, seizes the throne. Lilith later realises her mistake and joins forces with Cinderella. Together, they embark on an adventure involving battles and unexpected friendships.

Tranter described the soundtrack as a collection shaped by dance music and different musical styles. He called Jennie’s track an upbeat song inspired by classic organic dance-pop. Emei’s “The Understudy” offers an underdog anthem, while Rose Gray performs “Meet Me on the Dance Floor.”
Amanda Seyfried also contributes “Smile and a Song,” a musical theatre-inspired track about healing others while neglecting personal needs. Producers Amy Poehler, Jane Hartwell and Kim Lessing are leading the film’s production. Steps brings together an ensemble voice cast that includes Ali Wong, Bette Midler and Daniel Radcliffe.
