By Zoila Palma: The Ministry of Economic Transformation (MET), through its Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness 14 Project, participated in the Statistics Week 2026 Public Exhibition hosted by the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) on October 13, 2026, at the University of Belize Gymnasium in Belmopan.
Held under the theme “Harmonizing Data, Strengthening Resilience,” the exhibition brought together students, stakeholders, government agencies, and members of the public to learn about initiatives supporting Belize’s national development.
The event also provided a platform for organizations to share information and highlight the importance of reliable data in planning and decision-making.
Through its booth, the GCF Readiness 14 Project highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen Belize’s capacity to address climate change. Among the initiatives presented was support for a feasibility study exploring the potential establishment of master’s and Ph.D. programmes in climate change at the University of Belize.
The ministry noted that the exhibition provided an opportunity to raise awareness of the project and engage with the public on climate-related initiatives.
