Caleb Wilson has been delivering at a high level across the first three games of the season, and he’s doing something the Chicago Bulls haven’t seen since Michael Jordan.
Wilson was the fourth overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, with many expecting him to instantly become the Bulls’ franchise player.
And so far, he has lived up to those expectations, putting up strong performances to start the 2026-27 season.
Caleb Wilson scores most points by a Chicago Bulls rookie since Michael Jordan
Caleb Wilson scored 30 points in the Chicago Bulls’ third game of the season against the Washington Wizards last night.
This takes his points total for the season to 67, which means he has the second-most points scored by a Bulls rookie in their first three NBA games since Michael Jordan in 1984, who scored 74 points in his first three NBA games.
So far this season, Wilson has averaged 22.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game, while shooting 40.7% from the field and 78.9% from the charity stripe.
Compare this to Michael Jordan’s rookie numbers, which puts into perspective how well Wilson has started. Jordan averaged 28.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 2.4 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game while playing all 82 games.
Of course, Wilson isn’t putting up anywhere close to the numbers His Airness did in his rookie year, but that is to be expected, given that Jordan’s rookie year is considered one of the best in the history of the NBA.
Wilson is the second-leading rookie scorer this season, behind Darius Acuff Jr. of the Sacramento Kings, who is averaging 22.5 points per game this season.
Even though the Bulls have won just one game this season, Wilson is showing that he can be a first option for them going forward.
