KUALA LUMPUR: Abdul Latif Romly successfully defended his men's long jump T20 gold medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games today.
It was his fourth consecutive win in the event stretching back to Incheon 2014.
Latif cleared 7.39 metres on his third attempt which was enough to secure him the gold at the Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium in Nagoya.
Saudi Arabia's Hassan Dawshi claimed silver on 7.03m while Japan's Kanta Kokubo took the bronze with a 6.98m effort.
Latif's teammates Eljoe Gotuoh (6.91m) and Nik Mohd Zahari (6.42m) finished fourth and seventh respectively from the 13 finalists.
It was Malaysia's third gold medal of the games after Bonnie Bunyau Gustin (powerlifting) and Zuhairie Ahmad Tarmizi (track cycling) emerged victorious in their respective events earlier in the competition.
