Based in Toronto, Cross is most widely known nationally and internationally as host of the syndicated radio series The Ongoing History of New Music, The Secret History of Rock and ExploreMusic.
He has since moved to the podcast world, turning The Ongoing History of New Music — his weekly look at something from the alt-rock universe, from artist profiles to various thematic explorations — into a No. 1 music podcast.
As well, he has launched the true crime series UNCHARTED: Crime and Mayhem in the Music Industry, which delves deep into the sordid details behind some of the music industry’s darkest stories and most unimaginable mysteries.
The all-ages show is part live podcast, part previously untold tales, and part interactive question-and-answer session with the audience, with deep dives and rabbit holes aplenty for both true crime and music aficionados.
Cape Breton’s Joe Costello will open the show featuring stories and memorabilia from his 25-plus-year relationship with the local music scene.
Cross’s Sydney appearance is set for Nov. 3, 7 p.m., at St. Patrick’s Church Museum on the Esplanade, across from the Port of Sydney. Tickets cost $30 plus taxes and fees, and are available online at theopenscene.ca/tickets.
