A rights activist and content creator, Debo Adedayo, otherwise called Mr Macaroni, has reflected on the 2020 #EndSARS riots six years after brutality.
In a post on Tuesday, Mr Macaroni’s message dwelt on the October 2020 protests against police brutality and demand for scrapping of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), a unit of the Nigeria Police Force.
The entertainer wrote, “6 Years Later! We are still dealing with Insecurity, hunger, poverty, lack of proper health care and the highest level of corruption and impunity.
“The saddest part is that we are even more divided as a people at a time when we should be most united.”
Mr Macaroni lamented that Nigerians needed to recognise their collective power than few individuals to destroy the prosperity of the others.
“I hope one day we truly realise the power that we have as citizens and stop allowing a few selfish individuals destroy the success and prosperity of the majority of us. Till then, ✌🏾 and 🤍”, he added.
On October 11, 2020, the them Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, announced the dissolution of SARS. However, the protests continued as demonstrators demanded accountability and robust police reforms.
