If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I’m always in motion. On weekdays, I strength-train before heading to work. My commute involves a three-mile walk to the office, where I work at my standing desk and take the stairs to the various meeting rooms. At the end of the day, I usually walk home. On weekends, the intensity of my activity heightens with a morning run followed by some yoga, and then exploring my city on foot. Black leggings are the centerpiece of my active wardrobe.
This has been my weekend uniform for years, and as a result, I have gone through my fair share of black leggings. My current favorite is On Train Tights with FormTecTM. When I slip them on, I feel like everything is held into place and all the flaws that I perceive are diminished. My stomach seems flatter, my bum has less juggle, and my thighs have more definition. And that’s the point: FormTecTM is a new material for On leggings, and it’s meant to provide a ‘locked in’ sensation that sculpts, smoothes, and shapes. And this translates to a legging that I have confidence going out in, whether I’m training or not.
The Train Tights have a bonded waistband that rides high to provide targeted compression to support the core and help smooth out inconsistencies. Plus, the tailored pattern of the material helps shape my lower body so my legs and glutes don’t look like black blobs. In addition, the tights have two side pockets that lay completely flat when not in use.
But it’s during workouts when the On Train Tights show their true superpower. Because while the tights keep me looking my best, they’re also flexible enough to move through my yoga asanas, my deepest squats, and my heaviest deadlifts. There’s no waist rolling or gapping that can occur with other high-waisted leggings. In addition, there isn’t any ride up that can cause an uncomfortable situation (and look) in the nether regions. Through every twist, extension, and bend, the four-way stretch of FormTecTM is adaptive enough to expand and contract with my every move—while moulding to my body’s every curve.
This is why I anticipate the On Train Tights remaining a staple in my active wardrobe for a while—maybe until the shorts come out in Spring 2027.
