CMF by Nothing has entered the portable speaker market with two new Bluetooth speakers that combine distinctive design, customizable controls and powerful audio. The new CMF Speaker S and Speaker M feature a milk-carton-inspired shape, colorful finishes and removable panels that let users personalize their speakers.
Both models support Bluetooth 6.0, IP68 dust and water resistance, and up to 18 hours of playback. However, they target different users. The compact Speaker S delivers 10W RMS output for portable listening, while the larger Speaker M offers 35W RMS output for fuller sound at home or outdoors. <Cite refs={[“turn337536search0″,”turn337536search1″,”turn337536search2”]}/>
The speakers launched internationally on October 12, 2026. Their US prices start at $59 for the Speaker S and $109 for the Speaker M. Nepal pricing and local availability have not been officially confirmed.
CMF Speaker S and Speaker M Overview: What Are They?
The CMF Speaker S and Speaker M are the first portable Bluetooth speakers from CMF by Nothing. Both feature geometric designs, physical controls and customizable front panels, continuing the brand’s focus on distinctive-looking technology.
The Speaker S is the smaller option. It features a 45mm full-range driver and two passive radiators, making it suitable for desks, travel and outdoor listening.
Meanwhile, the Speaker M uses a larger enclosure with a dedicated woofer and tweeter. Its higher output makes it the more suitable choice for users who want stronger bass and more room-filling sound.
Both speakers support Stereo Mode, Auracast-based Party Mode, USB-C audio and the Nothing X companion app. Therefore, buyers can choose between portability and higher audio output without losing the main connectivity features. <Cite refs={[“turn337536search1″,”turn337536search2”]}/>

CMF Speaker S Features
1. Compact Design for Everyday Listening
The CMF Speaker S uses a compact, geometric body inspired by the shape of a milk carton. Its small size and lightweight construction make it suitable for desks, backpacks and outdoor trips.
It weighs 334g and measures 130.5 × 85 × 44mm. Additionally, a dedicated attachment point lets users add a strap or carabiner for easier carrying.
The removable front panel and physical control knob also add a customizable element. Users can personalize the appearance instead of sticking with a fixed design.
2. 10W Audio Output With a 45mm Driver
The Speaker S features a custom-tuned 45mm full-range driver and two passive radiators. Together, these components are designed to deliver clear vocals and stronger low-frequency response from a compact enclosure.
Its rated 10W RMS output should suit personal listening, small rooms and casual outdoor use.
However, it is not intended to replace a large home speaker system. Users who want louder playback and deeper bass for bigger spaces may prefer the Speaker M.
3. Up to 18 Hours of Battery Life
CMF claims up to 18 hours of playback from the Speaker S when using Ultra Bass at 50% volume.
The speaker has a 2,600mAh battery and charges through USB-C. CMF also says a 10-minute charge can provide up to one hour of playback under its specified testing conditions.
Actual endurance will depend on volume, Bluetooth connection conditions and sound-enhancement settings.
4. IP68 Dust and Water Resistance
The Speaker S carries an IP68 rating, making it suitable for environments where dust and water exposure are concerns.
This adds peace of mind for outdoor listening, including trips to parks and beaches. Nevertheless, water resistance does not make the speaker indestructible. Users should follow the manufacturer’s instructions for water exposure and charging after wet use.
5. Stereo Pairing and Party Mode
Users can pair two Speaker S units to create a stereo setup with separate left and right audio channels.
Party Mode uses Auracast to synchronize playback across compatible speakers. This helps expand sound coverage when more than one speaker is available.
The Nothing X app also provides equalizer presets and custom EQ controls for adjusting the sound to suit different music styles.
CMF Speaker M Features
1. More Powerful 35W Audio Output
The CMF Speaker M is designed for users who want more powerful sound. It delivers 35W RMS output through a 70mm woofer and a 16mm tweeter.
The dedicated woofer handles lower frequencies, while the tweeter reproduces higher-frequency details. This arrangement can provide more separation between bass, vocals and instruments than a small single-driver design.
Its frequency response is rated at 60Hz–20kHz. As a result, it should be the stronger option for living rooms, gatherings and larger listening areas.
2. Larger Body With a Built-In Handle
The Speaker M measures 220 × 85 × 54mm and weighs 602g. Although it is larger than the Speaker S, it includes a built-in handle to make carrying easier.
Its design retains CMF’s geometric styling and removable front panel. Users can choose from White, Dark Grey, Orange and Turquoise finishes.
The larger body accommodates its two-driver audio system while remaining portable enough for moving between rooms or taking to outdoor gatherings.
3. Up to 18 Hours of Playback
CMF advertises up to 18 hours of playback for the Speaker M under its specified testing conditions. The device uses a 4,900mAh battery and charges through USB-C.
Battery life will vary depending on volume and sound settings. Playing music loudly or using bass-enhancement features may reduce total playback time.
For regular users, the larger battery should help support longer listening sessions without frequent charging.
4. IP68 Protection for Outdoor Use
Like the smaller model, the Speaker M has an IP68 dust and water-resistance rating.
This makes it a practical option for outdoor gatherings and everyday use in environments where accidental splashes or dust may occur.
However, users should avoid exposing the speaker to conditions beyond the manufacturer’s specified limits, and should not charge it while wet.
5. Customizable Sound With Nothing X
The Speaker M supports the Nothing X app, which provides sound presets and custom equalizer controls.
Users can adjust the sound for music, vocals and other listening preferences. The speaker also offers Ultra Bass and Wide Soundstage modes to change the listening experience.
Stereo Mode allows two compatible Speaker M units to work together, while Auracast-based Party Mode can synchronize audio across compatible speakers.
Shared Features of CMF Speaker S and Speaker M
Bluetooth 6.0 and Dual-Device Connectivity
Both speakers use Bluetooth 6.0 and can connect to two devices at the same time. This makes it easier to switch between a phone and a laptop without repeatedly pairing the speaker.
They also support NFC pairing, Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair on compatible devices.
USB-C Digital Audio
The USB-C port supports charging and digital audio playback. With a compatible computer or smartphone, users can connect the speaker directly for wired audio.
CMF advertises low-latency playback below 60ms for supported USB-C audio use, which can be useful for watching videos or playing games.
Physical Controls and Customization
Both speakers feature a physical knob for controlling playback and volume, along with dedicated buttons for power, Bluetooth and Auracast.
Their front panels and knobs are removable, and CMF provides 3D design files so users can create custom accessories with a compatible 3D printer.
This gives the speakers a level of physical customization that is uncommon among portable Bluetooth speakers in this price range.
CMF Speaker S vs Speaker M: Which One Should You Buy?
| Feature | Better choice | Why |
