GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Volaris has officially inaugurated a new direct flight route connecting Guadalajara with Washington Dulles International Airport. The launch marks the first non-stop connection between the Jalisco capital and the U.S. capital, offering three weekly frequencies designed to accommodate tourists, business travelers, and family visits.
The inaugural flight took place on Thursday, October 15. By establishing this route, Volaris becomes the only carrier offering non-stop service between these two cities. The move is expected to facilitate travel between regions with significant economic ties in the technology, manufacturing, and agro-industrial sectors.
Flight Schedule and Pricing
Volaris will operate the route with departures from Guadalajara on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with returns from Dulles on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Sample pricing for travel on November 12 (based on current offers) includes three primary tiers, plus a mandatory airport fee of $1,263 MXN:
Zero: Starting at $2,190 MXN (includes personal item and loyalty points).
Basic: Starting at $3,003 MXN (includes a 15kg checked bag and flight change options).
Plus: Starting at $4,224 MXN (includes a 25kg checked bag, in-flight entertainment, and full refund options).
For round-trip travel departing on November 12 and returning on November 22, the “Basic” fare is estimated at approximately $8,929 MXN total, with various interest-free payment plans available.
Strategic Growth for Washington D.C.
The new route arrives as Mexico strengthens its position as a key international market for the U.S. capital. According to Destination DC, Mexico was the seventh-largest international market for Washington in 2025, with over 95,000 arrivals—a 9% increase over the previous year.
Looking ahead to 2027, Washington D.C. is preparing for a high-profile calendar of events, including the selection of new NFL players on the National Mall and the hosting of the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship. The new Volaris connection is positioned to capture the growing demand for both leisure and high-level business travel between these two major hubs.
