Boston enters its home opener looking to bounce back from a disappointing 121-113 loss to the Detroit Pistons to begin the 2026-27 season. The Celtics underwent significant changes during the offseason, most notably trading Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Paul George. The veteran forward made an immediate impact in his Boston debut, scoring 38 points against Detroit, but Jayson Tatum struggled offensively, finishing with just 13 points on 6-of-23 shooting. The Celtics will need a stronger all-around performance from their superstar duo to avoid an 0-2 start.

New York also enters Friday searching for its first victory after suffering a 106-100 loss to Philadelphia on opening night, spoiling a championship celebration at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks return most of the core that helped deliver the franchise its first NBA championship since 1973, including Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges. One notable departure was Mitchell Robinson, who signed with Boston during the offseason and will now face his former teammates for the first time. With both teams looking to establish themselves as Eastern Conference contenders, Friday’s matchup should provide an early test for two franchises with championship aspirations.
This is a great NBA matchup that you will not want to miss; make sure to tune in and catch all the action.
