- Here’s a stunningly preserved Chevy “square-body” pickup from America’s Bicentennial year.
- Unlike restomodded vintage pickups, it is as it was: no lift kit, no giant wheels, just a manual gearbox and 4x4 capability.
- This pickup clearly has been cared for over the years. Here’s hoping the next owner does the same.
In 1976, America celebrated the 200th year since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Wings’ “Silly Love Songs” was all over the radio, and Sylvester Stallone was going the distance in theaters as Rocky. In that same year, a man walked into a Chevy dealership in Colorado and drove out of it in an honest and simple pickup truck of a kind you just can’t find anymore. And he just kept it.

Now up for auction at Bring a Trailer (which, like Car and Driver, is part of Hearst Autos), this 1976 Chevrolet K10 pickup is as much of a time capsule as those that were dug up this year to celebrate America’s 250th birthday. Incredibly, it has had the same owner since new and has accumulated just 37K miles in those 50 years.
