The Tennessee Titans travel to Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday to face the Indianapolis Colts in an AFC South matchup featuring two teams with very different starts to the 2026 NFL season.
Tennessee enters Week 6 at 0-5 after suffering a disappointing 26-3 loss to the Houston Texans. Indianapolis is 2-3 following a 34-22 defeat against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Both teams are looking to respond, but the Titans desperately need their first victory of the season.
Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on FOX.
Cam Ward Looks to Spark Tennessee’s Offense
Titans quarterback Cam Ward remains the centerpiece of Tennessee’s rebuilding effort. Despite the team’s winless start, head coach Robert Saleh has continued to express confidence in the young quarterback and his ability to develop.
Ward has completed 63.2% of his passes for 896 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions through five games. However, the Titans have struggled to generate consistent offense, scoring just three points against Houston last week.
Tennessee needs Ward to make quicker decisions, protect the football and find ways to connect with his receivers downfield.
Running back Tony Pollard will also be important. Establishing a productive ground game could take pressure off Ward and help Tennessee control possession against Indianapolis.
Daniel Jones and Jonathan Taylor Lead Indianapolis
Colts quarterback Daniel Jones will look to guide Indianapolis back into the win column after the loss to Pittsburgh.
Jones has thrown for 1,021 yards and three touchdowns this season, although four interceptions have contributed to some of the team’s offensive inconsistency. Against Tennessee, protecting the football and taking advantage of scoring opportunities will be essential.
The Colts also have one of the league’s most dangerous running backs in Jonathan Taylor. Taylor has recorded 398 rushing yards and six touchdowns through five games, giving Indianapolis a reliable option to control the tempo.
Wide receiver Josh Downs and tight end Tyler Warren provide Jones with additional receiving threats.
Head coach Shane Steichen will look to create a balanced offensive attack that allows Taylor to establish the run while opening opportunities for Jones through the air.
Can Tennessee Slow Down the Colts?
The Titans’ defense must find a way to contain Taylor and prevent Indianapolis from controlling the line of scrimmage. If Tennessee allows the Colts to establish their rushing attack early, Ward could face additional pressure to produce points quickly.
Indianapolis, meanwhile, will try to pressure Ward into difficult decisions and capitalize on turnovers.
A Crucial AFC South Battle
Sunday presents an important opportunity for both teams. Tennessee is searching for its first win, while Indianapolis needs a response after consecutive losses.
The Titans will need a more productive offensive performance from Ward, while the Colts will look to Taylor and Jones to lead the way. With both teams eager to get back on track, execution and ball security could determine the outcome of this divisional matchup.
