MANILA, Philippines – Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Rappler CEO Maria Ressa will join WNYC host Brian Lehrer for a conversation on democracy in the age of artificial intelligence (AI) on Thursday, October 15, in New York (Friday, October 16, Philippine time).
The event, “Democracy Dialogues,” is co-presented by New York Public Radio (NYPR) and Rappler and will take place at The Greene Space in Lower Manhattan.
Lehrer, host of the Peabody Award-winning The Brian Lehrer Show, and Ressa will discuss the challenges of understanding, defending, and rebuilding democracy at a time when AI is rapidly transforming how people access information and engage with the world.

The conversation comes as Ressa releases her new book, The Fight Back: A Citizen’s Guide to Standing Up to Dictators, on October 13.
The event will also be livestreamed on WNYC’s website, C-SPAN, and on Rappler’s YouTube channel. Portions of the conversation will air on The Brian Lehrer Show on Friday, October 16, at 10 am Eastern Time.
