-- Police in Hanoi have accused Pham My Hanh, chairwoman of My Hanh Group, of defrauding more than 1,200 investors in a scheme involving Ngoc Linh ginseng projects, raising nearly VND1.3 trillion (US$50 million) and allegedly diverting funds to buy luxury properties and cars.
Investigators said Hanh promised returns of up to 48 percent annually through contracts tied to ginseng cultivation and business ventures in Kon Tum and Quang Nam. From August 2020 to March 2023, she signed more than 3,600 contracts, attracting thousands of investors.
Authorities found that at the time of fundraising, My Hanh Group had no actual ginseng projects or partnerships.
