Modern College holds 4th Autumn Fiesta

Piphema, October 11 (MExN): Modern College, Piphema, organised the fourth edition of its Autumn Fiesta on October 10 under the theme “Vintage Retro”, bringing together students and visitors for a celebration of music, sports, creativity and entertainment.The event provided a platform for young talents to showcase their abilities and encouraged participation and camaraderie among students.The inaugural programme began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9.30 am, followed by the formal programme at 10 am. The programme was compered by Grace Gonmei and Renchumlo N Ngullie, while Lhingmoichong Singson led the invocation. Principal Dr Vitsou Yano delivered the welcome address, followed by a special musical number by Keneinguzo Keyho and Seketuno Dahou.The special guest, Deven Bhosle, Commandant Officer of the 78 Battalion, CRPF, delivered an exhortation on transformation and the changing world. He emphasised that while the world continues to change, character remains the foundation of a meaningful life.Bhosle said the term “vintage” referred not only to fashion but also to old cultures, habits and values that should be remembered and upheld. Highlighting the importance of the present, he reminded students that “the future depends on what you do today”. He wished the college success in its future endeavours.One of the major attractions was Modern Rhapsody, a singing competition that provided a platform for aspiring singers. Eighteen contestants from various institutions participated in the competition.The judges were Aduozo Keretsü, a classical singer and session drummer; Kedovituo Peseyie, a singer, songwriter and vocal instructor at NCMFA; and Vetholu Rhakho, a singer, songwriter and vocal instructor.Y Libeni of Modern College secured the first position, followed by Hito H Yeptho of Mt Olive College in second place and Keneilhoulie of Norman Putsure College in third place.The fiesta also featured men's and women's arm wrestling and dumbbell hold competitions, organised by Power Gym and LFG in collaboration with the Modern College Alumni Association. A total of 54 participants took part in the sporting events, testing their strength, endurance and determination amid enthusiastic support from the audience.Adding to the excitement, the college's E-Sports Club hosted a Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament featuring 51 teams. Team TWM emerged as the winner, while Team OSC finished as runners-up and Team EZZ WIN secured the second runner-up position. TWM*ICE was named the most valuable player (MVP) of the tournament.The College Fete further enlivened the campus, with stalls offering food, refreshments and other items. The “Vintage Retro” theme added a distinctive character to the celebrations, allowing participants to embrace the fashion and style of a bygone era.The event also featured prizes for the best costume and best stall setup, while a DJ evening brought the day's festivities to a lively close.The fourth edition of Autumn Fiesta celebrated talent, creativity and togetherness, encouraging students to explore their interests, participate in friendly competition and engage with the wider student community.
