DIMAPUR, OCT 12 (NPN): Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has appealed to the Yimkhiung and Tikhir communities to reconcile following a clash that left one person dead and houses destroyed.
In a press release, NCD president GK Rengma and general secretary LK Peter Anal expressed anguish over the violence, saying such incidents at a time when ENPO had achieved the FNTA through collective efforts could hamper peace and development in Eastern Nagaland. The council said it upheld the tradition of Naga brotherhood and unity among its 20 affiliated Naga tribes. NCD described the emergence of “bitter feelings and misunderstandings” between the two communities as extremely unfortunate. It urged both sides to resolve their differences and restore cordial relations without delay.
Emphasising their shared Christian faith and values, NCD called upon the communities to practise forgiveness and uphold human dignity and ethical principles. The council appealed to leaders and members of both communities to let go of past grievances and work towards “true brotherhood” for the sake of future generations.
