Here are our recommendations for five relatively new restaurants, eateries, cafes, bars, and clubs in Jakarta this month.
Looking for new places to indulge your Epicurean delights? Well, Indonesia Expat got you covered. There have been numerous new restaurants, eateries, cafes, bars, and clubs that have recently joined the already diverse and iconic Jakarta culinary scene. Still, the five below are some of the new taverns that we recommend trying. Each of them possesses a distinctive style and is worthy of consideration, whether for a solo foodie experience or a celebratory feast with friends, family, and loved ones.
Kembang Goeyang
This new restaurant at Sarinah features a kopitiam (coffee shop) concept centred on Peranakan (Indonesian-Chinese fusion) cuisine. While many kopitiam-style establishments—particularly those with a Singaporean flair—have recently emerged across Jakarta, Kembang Goeyang at the Sarinah mall offers a distinct take: it serves Indonesian Peranakan comfort food within a more casual and relaxed setting. A notable highlight is the selection of jajanan pasar (traditional Indonesian snacks), ranging from klepon, dadar gulung, kue putu ayu, and kue lapis to savoury treats like risol, pastel, and lemper bakar. As for heartier main courses, nasi ungu komplet (complete purple rice set) at Kembang Goeyang is a must-try.

Freckles Pizza Studio
Freckles Pizza Studio is a new addition to the South Jakarta hangout scene—a must-visit for those who appreciate pizza with a unique twist. Unlike typical pizzerias, which often lean toward industrial or rustic Italian aesthetics, Freckles Pizza Studio features a Japandi (Japanese-Scandinavian) interior design, accented by artistic decorative elements. The result is a space that feels warm and personal, perfectly mirroring the fusion concept reflected in its menu. Pizza, naturally, is the star of the show. Freckles Pizza Studio offers a diverse selection of pizzas, available with three types of bases: a tomato base with a signature tangy flavour, a creamier white base, and a cheese base—ideal for all the cheese lovers out there.

Paris Café
From the same group behind Paris Bistro, Paris Café brings the distinct atmosphere of French café culture to the heart of bustling Jakarta. Its interior is striking, featuring a retro-steampunk aesthetic inspired by the iconic Arts et Métiers metro station in Paris. Located in the Wolter Monginsidi culinary hub, Paris Café is designed as an all-day dining destination suitable for any occasion. The menu offers a modern take on French cuisine, ranging from French Omelettes and Croque Madames to Duck Confit and Beef Cheek Ragù. For dessert lovers, the Milky Tapioca and Raspberry Pavlova are two standout dishes that frequently capture attention.

Tokyo 2100
True to its name, the atmosphere at Tokyo 2100—located on the lowest level of Pasaraya Blok M—is designed to evoke a vision of the world in the year 2100, characterised by a dominant metallic silver aesthetic. The menu features Japanese-inspired cuisine infused with highly modern culinary innovations. Salmon dishes at this restaurant, for instance, are presented in a variety of creative ways: grilled or served fresh, enhanced with delicious, caramelised glazes, and packed with generous fillings. Another example is Omega 2100—a sushi roll featuring smoked salmon and creamy cheese, topped with a rich, umami-packed kani mentai sauce.

Sunday Garage Club
Tucked away in a corner of Pasar Minggu is a home-style café called Sunday Garage Club, which offers a lush, garden-like atmosphere and a wonderfully relaxed vibe. This new café is the perfect spot to enjoy coffee, snacks, and conversation without any sense of rush. A standout item on the menu is their signature porridge, topped with shredded chicken, cakwe (fried dough sticks), cilantro, garlic oil, and chilli oil. As for drinks, highlights worth trying include Javanese tea, kopi susu (milk coffee) sweetened with palm sugar, banana-caramel milk coffee, and iced fruit soda.
