Lithuania is investing more than €33 million to expand its military refuelling network, including fuel stations, storage facilities and vehicle wash stations, the Defence Ministry said Tuesday.
The network is being expanded at military units in strategically important locations to support the Lithuanian Armed Forces and NATO allied troops, the ministry said. Some facilities have already been completed this year, while most of the newly built infrastructure is expected to be finished in 2027.
“We are consistently expanding the fuel infrastructure needed to supply both the Lithuanian Armed Forces and NATO allied troops,” Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas said.
The network will help maintain reliable fuel reserves and uninterrupted supplies for combat, logistical and administrative vehicles, he said, adding that improved logistics would strengthen military readiness, operational mobility and deterrence.
The new infrastructure includes modern refuelling stations with integrated fuel storage, as well as large-scale storage facilities at strategically selected locations, the ministry said.
The expanded network is intended to meet the fuel needs of both Lithuanian forces and NATO allies while creating a flexible and resilient supply system.
The ministry said it was also working with other state institutions to make the best use of existing fuel storage facilities and related infrastructure.
