Solana and XRP pulled back from Monday morning’s prices on Coinbase, although both still showed sizeable positive rolling returns. Solana’s retreat from the morning was larger, while its stronger rebound from the rolling opening price left it ahead on that separate measure.
At approximately 21:05 UTC on October 19, SOL-USD last traded at $104.58 and XRP-USD at $1.3017. Those prices were 1.01% and 0.91% below the respective $105.65 and $1.3137 quotations recorded at 07:16 UTC.
The morning report had described both extending their late-Sunday recovery. By the evening observation, that extension had weakened. The remaining gains depended on the comparison period: Solana was still above its Sunday-night quotation, while XRP had slipped below its own.
Solana retains less of the morning extension
Solana’s latest price compared with $104.19 on Sunday at 23:31 UTC, leaving it 0.37% higher against that observation. XRP was 0.50% below Sunday night’s $1.3083 price.
Those results show why the assets should not be treated as an identical trade. Both declined after the morning, but one still retained an improvement against Sunday’s later quotation while the other did not. A single green or red percentage cannot describe all of those intervals.
For an investor who entered after prices had already rebounded, the remaining distance from the rolling low is not the same as a personal return. The price paid determines that result. A strong percentage recovery can offer little comfort if the entry occurred near the high.
The earlier-week gap remains open
Our October 13 report recorded Solana at $107.87 and XRP at $1.3758 at 14:43 UTC. The latest prices were still 3.05% and 5.39% below those respective observations.
The Tuesday comparison therefore remained weaker for XRP even though it lost less than Solana against Monday morning. Relative leadership can change with the interval: a token can be more resilient during one pullback while retaining a larger loss across several sessions.
Those historical prices are reference points rather than forecast targets. Regaining them would reverse the measured difference, but their appearance in an earlier report does not establish that buy orders are waiting there or that prices will necessarily return.
Both remain above rolling opening values
Coinbase reported rolling opens of $101.98 for SOL and $1.2741 for XRP. The latest trades were 2.55% and 2.17% higher, respectively. The positive returns start from lower prices than the morning comparisons and are not calendar-day gains.
Solana’s rolling low was $101.98 and its high $106.11. The last trade was 2.55% above the low and 1.44% below the high. XRP ranged from $1.2741 to $1.3202, placing its latest price 2.17% above the low and 1.40% below the high.
The figures establish room between the current price and both extremes, rather than an imminent break in either direction. They also do not show how long prices spent at the boundaries or whether sizeable orders could have executed there.
The token prices also cannot establish a change in the health of either network. A lower exchange quotation is different from a failure to process transactions, while a positive rolling return does not show rising application use or fee revenue. Price, network activity and the financial position of a corporate holder are separate evidence sets. The latest prices describe the market outcome; conclusions about adoption or infrastructure need the corresponding operating data.
For comparing the assets, the consistent result is that Solana remains closer to its earlier Tuesday quotation, while XRP has held up better against Monday morning. That gives a more useful account of their relative positions than naming one permanent winner from a single percentage display.
A corporate sale is not a proven market catalyst
Monday’s news that SkyAI had sold its Solana treasury is relevant to the corporate-holder story, but the disclosure describes sales completed earlier. It cannot be used by itself to explain a price change occurring after the announcement.
Establishing that connection would require evidence of the actual sale times, quantities and venues, followed by an assessment of their market impact. The latest exchange statistics contain none of those details. They likewise do not identify which buyers or sellers produced XRP’s move.
Coinbase recorded approximately 444,723 SOL and 51.70 million XRP in rolling base-asset volume. Those unit totals cannot be compared as dollar turnover, and neither describes the depth currently available in the order book.
Our guide to crypto market liquidity and execution costs explains the difference between completed trading and the prices available for a new order. That distinction becomes more important when apparent momentum changes within a session.
The evening picture is a partial retreat: both assets stand below Monday morning and the earlier Tuesday prices, but above their lower rolling opens. Solana still retains a small gain against Sunday night; XRP does not. The remaining recovery is real, but its strength depends on which part of the move is being examined.
