Guwahati:Garima Saikia Garg, the wife of Zubeen Garg, on Saturday once again called for justice for the late singer in a social media post while opposing any form of politicisation of the issue in stern words.
Garima said she is traveling to Gaya to perform some rituals for Zubeen, their mother Ily Borthakur, and sister Jonkie Borthakur.
“We fully support every fight for justice for Zubeen. There is no political or any other ideology in it, and let no one try to impose their own views on it! Zubeen must get justice... and that’s final! That alone is our demand, our appeal, our prayer, everything,” she wrote.
Garima added, “We have already left for Gaya to perform a special Vedic ritual for Zubeen, Maa and Jonkie, so we will not be able to attend today’s protest programme, but we stand with the people of Assam with our full cooperation.”

Notably, Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi and visual artist Marshall Baruah invited the public to a meeting at Zubeen Khetra in Sonapur, scheduled to be held today at 12 noon, to decide the next course of action in the fight for justice, after two of the accused in the case were granted bail in quick succession.
Announcing the meeting, Baruah raised the question of whether the remaining accused would also be released. “Amritprabha, an accused in the death of Zubeen Garg, has obtained bail. Will the other accused also be granted bail? To discuss this and decide our next steps, we will all gather at Zubeen Khetra tomorrow, October 17, at 12 noon. I urge everyone to come so that we can talk through the entire matter and chalk out what we should do next. Thank you. Joi Zubeen Da,” he said.
Meanwhile, Akhil Gogoi extended the same invitation in a social media post. “Tomorrow, October 17, at 12 noon, I want to meet you all at Zubeen Khetra to discuss the matter of justice for Zubeen da. I invite everyone to join,” he said.
Singer Amritprabha Mahanta was recently granted bail by the Gauhati High Court, while Zubeen’s cousin Sandipan Garg also obtained bail. Both were among the accused who moved bail petitions in January. The Special Investigation Team’s chargesheet named seven accused, with Sandipan Garg, a suspended Assam Police DSP, charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
