STL Trustees Limited has reinforced its standing in Nigeria’s financial services industry, emerging as the only trustee company to receive two honours at the 2026 BusinessDay Banks and Other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards.
The company won the Trustee Company of the Decade Award for the second consecutive time, while Funmi Ekundayo, its managing director and chief executive officer, received the Lifetime Achievement Award in Trusteeship for her contributions to the industry’s development and the advancement of professional standards within the trusteeship sub-sector.
The awards recognise STL Trustees’ longstanding contribution to the trusteeship industry, its commitment to service excellence and the leadership behind its growth and impact in Nigeria’s capital market and wider financial services sector.
For STL Trustees, the recognition reflects a record of sustained industry participation, innovation, professionalism and excellence in fiduciary services. It also underscores the company’s commitment to building trust, delivering value to clients and developing solutions that respond to the changing needs of individuals, businesses and institutions.
Commenting on the awards, Ekundayo expressed appreciation to BusinessDay Media Limited, noting that the recognition carried particular significance as STL Trustees marks 30 years of operations in Nigeria’s financial services industry.
“We are deeply honoured by this recognition from BusinessDay Media Limited, particularly as STL Trustees celebrates 30 years of building trust, delivering value and contributing to the growth of the Nigerian capital market and financial ecosystem. Being named Trustee Company of the Decade, alongside the Lifetime Achievement Award in Trusteeship, is a significant milestone that reflects our longstanding commitment to professionalism, innovation and excellence.
“These honours represent more than individual or organisational achievements; they reflect the collective efforts of our employees, the confidence of our esteemed clients, and the invaluable support of our partners and stakeholders who have been part of our journey over the years.
“As we celebrate three decades of service and stewardship, we remain focused on building on this legacy by strengthening our capabilities, embracing innovation and delivering world-class solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients. These recognitions further inspire us to raise the bar in trusteeship and continue making meaningful contributions to the development of Nigeria’s financial services sector,” she said.
STL Trustees operates within the STL Capital Group’s financial services ecosystem, alongside STL Asset Management Limited and STL Capital & Advisory.
The double recognition marks another milestone in the company’s three-decade history. It also reinforces its stated commitment to maintaining client trust, advancing professional standards in trusteeship and contributing to the continued development of Nigeria’s capital markets and financial services sector.
