By Zoila Palma: Mexican authorities have arrested five men allegedly linked to the kidnapping and murder of 10 workers employed by Canadian mining company Vizsla Silver in the northwestern state of Sinaloa.
The workers, all Mexican nationals, were abducted at gunpoint on January 23 from a silver mining project operated by the Vancouver-based company, CBS reports.
The bodies of the 10 workers, including two engineers and a geologist, were later discovered buried in clandestine graves.
Mexico’s Defense Ministry said the suspects belonged to a faction of the Sinaloa cartel and identified one of them as Jesus Abraham, known by the alias “Taliban.”
In June, authorities announced the arrest of another suspect, Gabriel N., alias “Gabito,” who was described as a hitman for the same faction.
