Cats may have nine lives, but these tristate felines have hit the jackpot in one — with catios, museum posts and even international vacations. Meet ’em below.
Lucero
Also known as Lulu, this 14-year-old cat represents feline thriving at its finest.
Or should we say highest? Owner Pablo Velez is the creative director, designer and cannabis entrepreneur behind Flower Daddy Dispensary in Williamsburg.
Adopted 11 years ago, Lulu takes his post at the dispensary seriously, doing his rounds greeting people, investigating various corners of the shop and interacting with staff.
“Lulu changes the energy of the space instantly. People walk in expecting a transaction and instead they meet a presence,” said Velez, noting that his pet is “completely convinced he is the boss.”
Lulu acts much like a small dog. “He relaxes people. He makes them smile,” said Velez. “He slows things down in the best way. This isn’t just retail, it’s a neighborhood space, and Lulu embodies that.”
Bone Jovi
This 5-year-old mixed breed cat calls Brooklyn’s Bone Museum home. Formerly a shelter cat, he now lives full-time at this Bushwick osteology oasis, having traveled nearly 900 miles from Georgia to Best Friends Animal Society’s Pet Adoption Center in Soho. Serving as the museum’s resident cat and unofficial mascot, he follows another cherished feline-in-residence, who recently retired from the gig.
On any given day, find Bone Jovi greeting visitors, lounging and napping among the exhibits or being his adorable self in a social media photo shoot.
“Bone Jovi has become a beloved member of our museum family and our official head of security,” said Jon Pichaya Ferry, the museum’s managing director. “More importantly, he brings life, warmth and a sense of lightheartedness to a subject that can often feel somber. As we like to say, ‘They come for the cat and stay for the bones.’ ”
The cat’s story can also be a gateway to a conversation about the 6,000 shelters and rescue groups nationwide. “Bone Jovi’s journey from shelter cat to museum resident is a reminder that the right home can take many forms, whether it’s an apartment, a storefront or even a museum,” said Marlan Roberts, the executive director of Best Friends Animal Society.
Cleo and Clementine
Caelin Smith, who lives in Williamsburg, is the human behind the Instagram account @cleothecitykitty, with some 500,000 followers across social media.
Smith recently made the leap to becoming a full-time influencer on TikTok and Instagram, alongside the stars of the show, her cats: Cleo, 6, a fluffy white Persian, and Clementine, a 1-year-old British longhair.
Cleo, known for her expressive looks and sassy attitude, initially went viral in 2022 after developing a crush on a window washer outside her apartment. Clementine, a k a Clemmie, is her younger brother, who Smith brought home in September 2025.
“He is sweet and innocent, and desperately tries to win his big sister Cleo’s affection, but unfortunately fails most of the time,” said Smith, who feeds her cats on a silver platter and gives them water from fine crystal glasses.
Sponge Cake, Donut and Buttercream
Dan Nguyen, a corporate attorney, and Olivia Nguyen, a financial analyst, keep busy outside of their day jobs with their three cats: Sponge Cake, a 5-year-old Scottish fold; Donut, a 5-year-old British shorthair; and Buttercream, a 1-year-old British shorthair.
The couple, who reside in Midtown West, keep nearly 3.4 million fans updated on their cats’ whereabouts on Instagram account @spongecake_thescottishfold and on TikTok account @spongecake_cats.
Olivia fondly recalled taking Buttercream snow sledding in Central Park for the first time this past winter. “We brought along a small wooden sled that he jumped onto immediately,” she said. “He just sat there, looking around at everything, taking it all in.”
On weekends, the couple regularly take their cats on exciting adventures around New York City.
“Wherever they go, they spread so much joy. People are always excited by how they dress up in the cutest outfits,” said Olivia, noting that the cats have their own personal tailor. “When they go to Paris, they have Parisian artist outfits custom-made just for them. I can’t even count how many berets they own.”
To date, the cats have also vacationed in London, Amsterdam and Venice.
