Jordan Elliott’s off-the-field activity led to him being off the roster.
The Titans announced Tuesday they released the seventh-year defensive lineman following an “incident” at the team team facility last Thursday.
Tennessee did not provide any other details, adding that it “will have no further comment on the matter.”
Elliott, 28, had no injury designated Wednesday and Thursday before not practicing Friday and being ruled out for the Week 6 win over the Colts for non-injury related/personal reasons.
Four days later, the team moved on from the veteran despite signing him to a two-year, $8 million deal in the offseason.
Signing with the Titans reunited Elliott with new coach Robert Saleh after the pair spent the 2025 season with the 49ers, with Saleh serving as the defensive coordinator.
Elliott entered the NFL in 2020 after being drafted by the Browns in the third round and spent four years with the team before heading to the 49ers.
He tallied five sacks across 66 games with Cleveland.
Elliott appeared in 31 games with 29 starts with San Francisco, tallying 50 combined tackles.
He had played in all five of the Titans’ games and started one, registering 11 combined tackles before his surprise absence for Week 6.
For his career, Elliott has played in 102 games with 65 games and has five sacks.
This release now raises questions about his NFL future, although the exact details of what led the Titans to make this move likely will factor into whether other teams pursue him.
The Titans (1-5), meanwhile, rallied in Week 6 to down the Colts (2-4) in a big upset, which led to Indianapolis firing longtime general manager Chris Ballard.
Tennessee will look to create a winning streak Sunday when it hosts the Browns, who are 4-2 and tied for the AFC North lead after their upset win over the Ravens in Week 6.
