Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb has announced a “One Dollar Cinema” initiative to revive Pakistan’s film industry and attract more people to movie theaters.
Under the proposed initiative, cinema ticket prices would be set between Rs. 300 and Rs. 350, making movies more affordable for the public, particularly families, young people, and middle-income households.
The plan aims to encourage people who have stopped visiting cinemas due to high ticket prices to return, while also supporting the local film industry.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said the provincial government is taking urgent steps to promote Pakistani cinema and increase attendance at movie theaters.
However, the initiative remains at the proposal stage, and the government has yet to announce a timeline or final implementation details.
