Greek television presenter Anthi Voulgari has claimed that former US ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle may be leaving Athens with unpaid bills for hair and beauty services, adding another controversy to the American diplomat’s abrupt departure from Greece.
Speaking on MEGA television’s morning programme Koinonia Ora MEGA on Thursday, 15 October, Voulgari suggested that Guilfoyle’s lavish lifestyle in Athens may have left some expenses unsettled. The presenter was careful to acknowledge that the information had not been independently verified.
The comments came just days after the White House requested Guilfoyle’s resignation following allegations of misconduct during her diplomatic posting, bringing an unexpected end to her high-profile tenure in the Greek capital.
Discussing reports that Guilfoyle was preparing to leave, Voulgari initially made light of the former ambassador’s extensive wardrobe.
“Guilfoyle is packing up. She’s packing because she had so many clothes,” she told co-host Iordanis Hasapopoulos. “Well, the days of grandeur are over now, my dear Iordanis. Now she’s just Kim. Kimberly.”
Voulgari then hinted that she had received information about Guilfoyle’s personal spending while living in Athens.
“I’m hearing something behind the scenes. I want to verify it first. Should I share it as a little gossip, or shouldn’t I?” she said.

Continuing in a conversational tone, the presenter added: “Come on, just between us. I’m hearing she’s leaving without settling her bills. Hair appointments, beauty treatments… various places, apparently. That’s what I’m hearing at the moment. But perhaps she had made other arrangements.”
The remarks quickly attracted attention in the Greek media, particularly given Guilfoyle’s reputation for glamorous appearances and her prominent presence at social and political events throughout her time in Athens.
There has been no independent confirmation of Voulgari’s claims, and no evidence has been presented publicly to establish that Guilfoyle owes money to local businesses. The presenter herself emphasised that she had yet to substantiate the information.

The television exchange comes amid considerably more serious questions surrounding Guilfoyle’s diplomatic conduct.
On 13 October, the White House confirmed that President Donald Trump’s administration had requested her resignation following reports alleging that she sought money, gifts and favours in connection with access to senior administration figures.
Among the allegations reported by The Wall Street Journal was a claim that Guilfoyle had sought $100,000 from a Trump supporter to cover a personal credit card bill.
Guilfoyle has denied wrongdoing and maintained her support for Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Her departure has attracted considerable attention in Greece, where her appointment had initially been regarded as an indication of the country’s close relationship with the Trump administration.
A former Fox News personality and prominent Trump supporter, Guilfoyle brought an unusually public profile to the ambassadorial role. Her appearances alongside Greek political figures, business leaders and celebrities regularly generated headlines, extending her visibility well beyond conventional diplomatic circles.
For now, Voulgari’s allegations about unpaid personal expenses remain unsubstantiated. Nevertheless, the comments illustrate how rapidly the public discussion surrounding Guilfoyle has shifted from her influential connections and glamorous lifestyle to questions about her conduct during her time in Greece.
