Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has called for smaller administrative divisions and districts, alongside the creation of new provinces. He said smaller administrative units would bring government institutions closer to residents and improve access to public services. Bugti shared these views during a press conference in northern Dera Bugti.
The chief minister said authorities had approved all divisional posts for the Koh-e-Suleman Division. He added that officers and other staff would receive appointments to these approved positions soon. The move aims to strengthen the division’s administrative capacity and improve the delivery of government services.
Bugti said Balochistan’s specific circumstances required an administrative structure that reflected public needs. He argued that smaller divisions and districts would make it easier for people to approach civil administration and government departments. He also said discussions about smaller administrative units had begun recently, although he started this process two years ago.
The chief minister also discussed development work in Rakhni. He said he had issued strict instructions to prevent corruption and commission-related practices from affecting development projects. According to Bugti, development activities had already started in the area. He added that authorities would work to turn Rakhni into a model division.
Commenting on security, Bugti praised security forces for thwarting an attack by Fitna al Khawarij in Gwadar. He commended the armed forces, Frontier Corps and police for their sacrifices and performance against terrorism. He described their efforts as important in confronting militant threats across the province.

Bugti also highlighted a decline in the trend of terrorist incidents in Balochistan after August. He described the development as a positive sign for the province’s security situation. However, he did not provide figures or further details supporting the reported decline during the press conference.
The chief minister reiterated his appreciation for security personnel conducting operations against terrorism. His remarks covered both administrative reforms and security challenges facing Balochistan. He said a more accessible government structure would help address residents’ needs while development initiatives continued across the province.
