QUETTA: Private schools in Quetta have been barred from collecting fees for the winter vacation period in light of a Balochistan High Court ruling, with strict instructions issued to ensure compliance with the court’s orders, ARY News reported.
According to details, Deputy Commissioner West Quetta has issued a formal notification prohibiting private educational institutions from charging fees for the winter holidays.
Deputy Commissioner Munir Ahmed Durrani has directed all private schools to comply with the court’s orders in letter and spirit.
Officials have warned that schools found collecting fees in violation of the notification could face cancellation of their registration and sealing of their buildings.
The deputy commissioner has urged parents to immediately report any school collecting fees for the winter vacation period to the deputy commissioner’s office or the relevant education department.
He said complaints would be followed by immediate action against the institutions concerned.
Winter vacation schedule
The Balochistan Education Department traditionally divides schools into two zones based on climatic conditions: cold and warm areas.
Winter vacations in cold areas generally begin in mid-December and continue for around two and a half months, while schools in warm areas usually observe a shorter break of around 10 days.
