The Universities Teachers’ Association (Contract), Telangana State (UTACTS), will hold a dharna at the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) in Hyderabad on October 15, demanding job security and regularisation for contract teachers working in State universities.
The association is demanding job security and regularisation for more than 1,200 contract teachers working across 12 universities in Telangana. It is also seeking the immediate implementation of the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) 7th Pay Revision Commission (PRC) scales for all contract teachers.
The UTACTS has also called for the fulfilment of the assurance given by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in April 2025, following a 11-day strike by contract teachers.
Addressing the meeting, association leaders said the dharna was crucial to safeguard the rights and future of contract faculty members working in State universities. They appealed to contract teachers across the State to participate in large numbers in the peaceful protest.
