Former NFL defensive back Jason McCourty delivered a warning to the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday, urging them to avoid a winless season following their 0-6 start to the 2026 campaign.
The Chargers joined the Miami Dolphins as the league’s only remaining winless teams after the Tennessee Titans defeated the Indianapolis Colts 26-20 on Sunday.
McCourty, who experienced an 0-16 season with the Cleveland Browns in 2017, understands the significance of such struggles.

Ahead of Monday night’s San Francisco 49ers-Washington Commanders matchup, ESPN’s Pat McAfee shared a clip on X, formerly Twitter, featuring the 13-year NFL veteran’s message during Monday Night Countdown.
“I know what it feels like to go 0-for, 0-16 in 2017. Guys, find a way to win a game. You don’t want to be a part of that type of history. Even sunny days won’t make you happy. Find a way to win at least one game. Do not get a perfect season the wrong way.”
Congratulations to your Tennessee Titans @JasonMcCourty..

McCourty’s warning follows the Chargers’ 22-6 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, marking the franchise’s first 0-6 start since 2000. That team, which featured current Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh at quarterback, finished 1-15.
The latest setback continued a stunning decline for Los Angeles following back-to-back 11-win seasons.
The Chargers managed just 259 total yards vs. the Chiefs, failing to score a touchdown while quarterback Justin Herbert was sacked four times.
Harbaugh acknowledged the offensive struggles afterward, emphasizing the need to evaluate every aspect of the team’s operation, including first-year offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel.
Meanwhile, McCourty’s former team, the Titans, improved to 1-5 with their first victory of 2026, leaving Los Angeles and Miami as the NFL’s only remaining winless teams and at risk of joining the 2017 Browns and 2008 Detroit Lions in NFL history.
The Chargers enter their Week 7 bye winless, with offensive changes under consideration.
