A 31-year-old man, Saviour Dzadze, has been arrested in Kpando by the Volta North Regional Police Command for unlawful possession of firearms and suspected Indian hemp on Wednesday, 14th October, 2026.
The arrest follows a death threat complaint by one Dzodzi Kofi Kpakpamikpe on October 8th, 2026, compelling the police to search the house of Saviour, the suspect.
This was contained in a communique signed by the Volta North Regional Public Relations Officer, Inspr. Felix Kwao, and copied to Myjoyonline.com.
Saviour Dzadze was arrested at the premises of the Kpando Circuit Court after the police found guns and ammunition at his residence.
The items found included an AK-47 Assault rifle, a pump-action shotgun, a locally manufactured single-barrel gun, 10 AAA lion cartridges and some quantity of substances suspected to be Indian Hemp.
“Investigation further established that the suspect traded his cultivated suspected Indian hemp for the AK-47 Assault rifle to an unidentified man from Togo. He received the pump-action shotgun from his brother Foster Dzadze in Accra while he inherited the locally manufactured single-barrel gun from his late father Mathereous Dzadze”, stated Inspr. Felix Kwao
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting the investigation and is expected to appear before the law court on Friday October 16th, 2026 to answer for his charges.
“The Volta North Regional Police Command reiterated its commitment to fighting crime while efforts are underway to arrest his accomplices to assist the police investigation”, Inspr. Felix Kwao concluded.
