Reports in Spain claim that Atletico Madrid have been impressed with what they have seen from Juventus loanee Jonathan David in his first few appearances for the club and that they are already planning on making his stay permanent at the end of the 2026-27 season.
Report: Atletico already prepared to pay Juventus €25m for Jonathan David
David joined Atletico on loan with an option to buy from Juventus during the summer transfer window. The Canada international had only been in Serie A for one season, joining the Old Lady on a free transfer at the end of his Lille contract, but struggled to live up to expectations in Serie A despite his six goals and four assists in the league.
He was allowed to leave on loan with an option to buy, which stands at €25m, and according to reports from Spanish outlet Relevo, Atletico have already decided that they would like to make David’s stay permanent.
There is a chance that Atleti will attempt to negotiate with Juventus on the price tag, but Relevo claims that the Spanish side has already ‘allocated’ €25m of next year’s budget for the permanent acquisition of David from Juventus.

David has provided a goal contribution in every LaLiga match he has appeared in so far, coming up with three goals and two assists from his first four outings in the Spanish top flight. It took him 19 appearances to reach the same figures with Juve in Serie A.
