The number of pandals has risen steadily over the past three years. Assam recorded 8,381 pandals in 2024 and 8,521 in 2025. The latest figure represents an increase of 481 over last year, reflecting the growing scale of the annual festival.
Durga Puja remains one of Assam's major religious and cultural celebrations, bringing communities together through worship, artistic displays and public gatherings. Across the state, local committees have combined traditional rituals with creative themes to attract devotees and visitors.
Guwahati, in particular, has witnessed a wide range of themed pandals this year, with organisers drawing inspiration from mythology, religious architecture and the cultural heritage of Assam's diverse communities.
