KUALA LUMPUR: Bersatu claims that Perikatan Nasional, under Pas leadership, violated the coalition's constitution by denying the party its rights at a Supreme Council meeting on July 16, contributing to PN's deregistration by the Registrar of Societies Malaysia (RoS).
Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said RoS's decision on Oct 20 showed that the grounds and explanations provided by Pas during the investigation were unfounded and failed to meet the requirements of the law and PN's constitution.
He said denying Bersatu the right to attend, express its views and vote at the meeting constituted a serious breach of Clause 7.1 of PN's constitution.
He added that such actions could undermine the coalition's future and demonstrated weaknesses in governance and organisational management.
"The RoS decision today proves that Bersatu was on the right side to save Perikatan Nasional," he said in a statement today.
Azmin said PN leadership was also alleged to have set aside good and transparent governance, creating pressure against Bersatu.
This included alleged attempts to drop the party as a coalition member through the veto power of individuals who were not office bearers in the PN Supreme Council.
Azmin said Bersatu lodged a complaint with the RoS on Aug 11 to ensure PN was governed based on accountability, transparency, and integrity, while adhering to the law and its constitution.
"Bersatu was summoned to give a statement to the RoS on Aug 18, 2026.
"Bersatu consistently provided factual explanations and evidence showing that PN leadership denied Bersatu its rights as guaranteed by the PN constitution, subsequently violating provisions in the Societies Act," he said.
He said although the RoS decision was difficult to accept because Bersatu was among PN's founding parties, the party accepted that the coalition must execute its responsibilities according to the constitution and law to ensure lawful and orderly governance.
Meanwhile, Azmin said Bersatu would examine the full RoS decision before discussing next steps in a party Supreme Leadership Council meeting.
"The next steps will focus on rebuilding public confidence in a coalition of moderate political parties that brings value-based politics and builds a new vision for a prosperous Malaysia for all citizens," he said.
Earlier, the RoS confirmed the cancellation of PN's registration after finding that explanations submitted by the coalition failed to rebut the grounds stated in an earlier notice.
According to the RoS, the decision was made under Subparagraph 13(1)(c)(iv) of the Societies Act 1966 (Act 832) following a review of documents and representations submitted by PN on Oct 12.
The RoS said a notice dated Sept 22 was issued to PN under Subsection 13(2) of the Societies Act 1966 to allow the coalition to provide explanations and representations regarding the issues raised.
"After examining all documents and explanations submitted, the RoS found that the reasons provided failed to rebut the grounds for deregistration as stated in the notice," the RoS said in a statement today.
