In professional sports, establishing a culture of high standards often falls on the shoulders of seasoned veterans. For the Pittsburgh Steelers, star defensive back Jalen Ramsey continues to demonstrate what top-tier accountability and dedication look like every single day on the practice field.
Rookie edge rusher Jack Sawyer recently highlighted the profound impact Ramsey’s relentlessness has on the locker room, particularly among the team's younger players. As reported by 93.7 The Fan in a video shared on X, Sawyer had nothing but praise for the veteran's impact.
“He brings that intensity everyday to practice. He practices like it’s a game, that’s one thing that I respect about him. You know, being a rookie, even last year, a player who’s been All-Pro, a bunch of contracts and he still goes out there and plays so hard every practice, every snap. It was motivating for us young guys. It was nothing new having him fly around and make the hits, the sacks, the pass breakups. He’s a one-on-one type of player on the defensive side of the ball. He means a lot to this team,” said Sawyer.

Sawyer’s comments underscore a crucial element of Ramsey’s value that goes well beyond Sunday statistics. Having earned multiple All-Pro selections and secured lucrative contracts over his distinguished career, Ramsey could easily coast on reputation during weekday reps. Instead, his willingness to treat every practice snap with game-day urgency serves as a powerful blueprint for younger teammates adjusting to the rigors of the NFL.
That game-day intensity was on full display in the Steelers’ recent 26–19 overtime victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Ramsey delivered a dominant stat line, racking up 10 tackles, four tackles for loss, and two sacks, including a game-ending overtime sack on fourth down to seal the win.
By combining veteran leadership in practice with game-clinching execution on the field, Ramsey continues to prove why his presence is transformational for Pittsburgh's defense.
