A member of Yemen's Houthi political bureau has warned that the United States would face a "swift and painful response" if it became involved in the war in Yemen, following reports that Saudi Arabia had requested US assistance in dealing with the movement.
Mohammed Al Bukhaiti said Houthi forces would retaliate against the United States and its interests across the region if Washington intervened in the conflict, says Dawn.
Bukhaiti also warned employees at Saudi oil facilities and airports to stay away from those locations, declaring them legitimate targets.
"If the US becomes involved in the aggression against Yemen, we will not deliberate over the decision to respond; rather, there will be a swift and painful response targeting the US and all its interests in the region," Houthi political bureau member Mohammed Al Bukhaiti tells AFP in an interview.
The warning follows a Houthi strike on Riyadh airport that killed 12 people. The Saudi-led coalition has promised a "decisive" response to the attack.
