There has been a rare reprieve for Perth motorists at the bowser, with the average cost of petrol trending downwards this week.
Last Wednesday, unleaded petrol in the metro area soared to a new average weekly high of $2.45 a litre amid predictions that motorists would have to cop $2.50 sooner rather than later.
Seven days later, that average is 10c cheaper and signs prices will continue in that direction.
Fuelwatch says the average cost of unleaded will drop a further 4c on Thursday to $2.31.
Tomorrow’s prices will also make petrol in Perth more affordable than all of the state’s major regional centres again - a mark that has not been achieved in some time.
Diesel is steady at about $2.67 per litre.
The cheapest unleaded petrol tomorrow is likely to be found at Vibe service stations, where the average is $2.24 per litre.
