The UK economy grew by 0.1 per cent in August compared to the previous month, data from the Office for National Statistics revealed today.
This follows growth of 0.4 per cent in both July and June - the latter being revised up from 0.3 per cent in a previous ONS publication.
The growth in August was driven by a 0.8 per cent growth in production, with services showing no growth, and construction falling by 0.2 per cent.
Before today's data had been released, economists had predicted that the economy was likely to have contracted by 0.1 per cent in August.
It comes ahead of Chancellor John Healey delivering the Budget on October 28.
