Punjab University has decided to resume private BA and MA examinations and has written to the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in this regard.
According to the registrar, the Punjab University Syndicate has passed a resolution in favour of restoring the private BA and MA exams.
The letter argues that the closure of these programs has deprived a large segment of the population of higher education opportunities.
The resolution notes that private examinations served as a vital pathway to higher education for people living in rural and remote areas, while working students also continued their studies through these programs.
Syndicate members have requested the Punjab Assembly to grant permission to resume private BA and MA examinations.
Notably, the HEC had imposed a ban on private BA and MA degree programmes two years ago.
