THE RUNDOWN
- Miley Cyrus performed at the Hollywood Bowl for the first time on October 16.
- She performed old songs from her discography including “The Climb” and “Party in the U.S.A.”
- Selena Gomez was in attendance and shared footage from her perspective.
On October 16, Selena Gomez attended Miley Cyrus’s first of two concerts at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, where the singer celebrated her new album, Bass Persuades, with a live performance.
The memorable evening—Cyrus’s first time performing at the iconic venue—included a touching tribute to her godmother, Dolly Parton. She also sang discography staples like “Party in the U.S.A.” and “Flowers.”
Gomez shared a photo of Cyrus performing onstage to her Instagram Stories, writing, “speechless at the moment.” The post offered a glimpse of the singer’s support for her longtime friend as Cyrus returned to the stage for her first headlining set in four years.

Gomez also shared a more playful moment from the show. In a video posted to her Stories, she and her friends could be heard singing along to Cyrus’s 2009 hit “The Climb.” When one friend began singing particularly loudly, Gomez jokingly covered her ears. She captioned the clip, “When you came to hear Miley sing.”
Gomez and Cyrus go back to their Disney Channel days. Gomez guest-starred on Hannah Montana as Mikayla, a rival pop star to Cyrus’s Miley Stewart. The appearance came early in both singers’ careers, before they went on to build successful music and acting careers of their own. Nearly two decades later, Gomez was part of the show’s 20th anniversary celebration, offering a full-circle moment.
Gomez’s attendance marked a special moment in their friendship—and a poignant reminder of all Gomez and Cyrus have achieved in their post-Disney careers.
