KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has denied any involvement in the Registrar of Societies' (RoS) decision to cancel Perikatan Nasional's (PN) registration.
PKR secretary-general Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh described as defamatory an allegation by Parti Pejuang Tanahair (Pejuang) president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir that the decision was made on PKR's recommendation.
She also refuted Mukhriz's social media post featuring several slides purportedly detailing PKR's plan to deregister PN, which he claimed had been presented at the party's 2026 National Congress in Melaka last August.
"I consider the use of slides that were never presented, in an attempt to link PKR to the RoS decision on PN, to be defamatory.
"I therefore demand that Mukhriz retract the allegation and apologise to PKR. Political differences are no licence to spread defamatory allegations," she said in a Facebook post.
Fuziah added that the complaint which prompted the RoS action concerned issues involving PN's own component parties, and that PKR had absolutely no involvement in the matter.
In a statement today, RoS said it had deregistered PN after finding that the coalition's explanation failed to rebut the grounds for deregistration stated in an earlier notice.
It said the decision was made after examining all documents and explanations submitted by PN on Oct 12.
RoS added that PN's response also failed to provide sufficient justification for maintaining the coalition's registration.
