- The President aimed at his political opponents, accusing them of lacking a clear agenda for the country's development and instead focusing on campaigns to remove him from power.
President William
Ruto once again returned to Ukambani to launch several development projects
initiated by the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The four-day tour
of Machakos, Makueni and Kitui counties began on Saturday in Mwala
Constituency, Machakos County, where the President commissioned a water supply
project.
Addressing
residents, President Ruto urged Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to abandon the
opposition and work with his administration, saying Kalonzo risks being used by
his political allies before they eventually abandon him.
“You know, the
other day Kalonzo said God is using me to build roads and undertake all this
work, which is true. God is also using Kalonzo to publicise my achievements.
Why don't you support us? At least Kalonzo acknowledges that work is being
done, unlike the others,” said Ruto.
The President
aimed at his political opponents, accusing them of lacking a clear agenda for
the country's development and instead focusing on campaigns to remove him from
power.
“Those people have
no agenda. Every day it is ‘Must Go’, ‘Kasongo’ and ‘Wantam’. We will deal with
them early in the morning,” he said.
Leaders
accompanying the President backed his development agenda, arguing that his
administration was distributing resources equitably across the country,
regardless of political affiliation.
“President,
continue with this work. That is why we have embraced the principle that
equality means fairness,” National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa
said.
Public Service Cabinet
Secretary Geoffrey Ruku added, “Those who promote tribalism continue preaching
politics of hatred, while we continue delivering development across the
country.”
Labour CS Alfred
Mutua on his part said, “You know, when you look at the development he has
delivered here, it is more than what previous presidents did. Equality means
fairness.”
During the tour,
the President launched several road and water projects and issued 6,800 title
deeds to residents of Kaiti Constituency in Makueni County as part of efforts
to address land ownership challenges.
Among the projects
were the Ksh.1.4 billion Kyambeke-Kyuasini-Ukia road and the Ksh.1.5 billion
Kyambeke-Kikoko road; Ksh.16 billion has been allocated to construct seven
roads covering 180 kilometres across Makueni County, and Ksh.11 billion to
accelerate the completion of Thwake Dam by April 2027.
